Yagura is one of the most interesting foramtion in the shogi . I love this formation , and many professional shogi players love Yagura too . Yagrua is developed as several generation . First I show the changes of fashion . Chapter 1. Yagura evolution At first I show a Yagura of Oayama's young days. There are some features in Oayama's Yagura . First , both Black & White move Static Rook's Pawn in early stage . Second , both move 5th file Pawn afterward , or sometimes move 4th (6th as White ) file Pawn instead of 5th file Pawn . 1. Yagura is relatively difficult to avoid for White . If White wants to avoid Yagura , he(or she) should move 1. . . P-3d and transposition to Yokofutori , Gote Furibisha or other openings . After 2. S-6h White can still avoid Yagura , but the opening of White is limited , for example Youdou-Furibisha , Sokkou-bougin , Migi-shiken-bisha , Kyuusen-Yagura . ![]() After diagram 3-2-1 , White usually moves 2. . . P-3d , because 2. . . P-8e is too early to limit his (or her ) own shape if he (or she ) dose't play quick attack . After the diagram 3-2-1
(iii) Transposition to irregular Kakukawari . (iv) Transposition to Modern Hisha-saki-futsuki , Naka-bisha etc. After diagram3-2-2
